Henry was born in 1865 in Mount Edgerton, near Ballan.  Henry's father was Henry Joseph GRANTHAM and his mother was Charlotte VENVILL. He had two brothers named Joseph and Charles.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named George, Elizabeth, Annie and Sarah.
