Anne was born on March 15th, 1767 in Featherstone Castle, Cumberland - Northumberland.  Anne's father was John LEATHART and her mother was Elisabeth ELLIOT.  Her paternal grandparents were Cuthbert LEATHART and Margaret LEATHART. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named John, Cuthbert, Thomas, James, William, Joseph, George, Robert, Edward, Mary, Elizabeth, Frances and Margaret.  She was the seventh youngest of the fourteen children.
