Margaret was born on December 19th, 1777 in Featherstone Castle, Cumberland - Northumberland.  Margaret's father was John LEATHART and her mother was Elisabeth ELLIOT.  Her paternal grandparents were Cuthbert LEATHART and Margaret LEATHART. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named John, Cuthbert, Thomas, James, William, Joseph, George, Robert, Edward, Mary, Elizabeth, Frances and Anne.  She was the youngest of the fourteen children.  She died at the age of 43 in 1820 in Alston, Cumbria.
