William Davies LEATHART

William was born in 1802 in Denbighshire, Wales. William's father was Joseph LEATHART and his mother was Maria DAVIS. His paternal grandparents were John LEATHART and Elisabeth ELLIOT. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Alfred, Francis, Edward, Edwin, Joseph, Eliza and Louisa. He died at the age of 56 on July 27th, 1858 in Camden Town, London, England.

General Notes
- Wales must have played a major part in his life as he researched and authored a numbr of books to do with the Welsh arts. Both his mother and 2 sisters sang beautifully in the Welsh tradition, and must have aroused his interest in the harp as an accompaniment to singing.
  
  At the 1851 census, aged 47, William is shown living alone at 11 Stanmore Place, St Pancras, London. His occupation is shown as Paper Hanger, which is the same as that of his nephew Joseph (who married Laura Atwood, and whose family were plasterers), and interior decorating may have been a family business.
  
  In 1858 the Yass Courier, Sydney reported Wiliams death in Camden Town, London, aged 56 as the elsdest brother of Mrs Godfrey.
