John was born in 1886 in Wyuna VIC.  John's father was John MITCHELL and his mother was Ellen AMOR.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Quick MITCHELL and Jane JENNINGS; his maternal grandparents were William AMOR and Ann Priscilla WHEELER. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William, Henry, Frederick, Elizabeth, Ellen, Rebecca and Martha.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 44 on October 6th, 1930 in Echuca, Victoria, Australia.
